The Bagmati River is considered to be a holy River for the Nepalese people in Nepal. However, the river has been subjected to alot of pollution. Many festivals result in alot of plastic waste left at the bank and in the river.
Many people from around the world have been contributing to cleaning up the river. The South Asian Access Summit 2019, brought around 130 teachers and alumni from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. As a gesture of Goodwill and contributing to the community, Access Teachers across Asia have joined hands to clean up the river and contribute to the community and environment.
Under the Service Learning Projects, Access teachers contributed to cleaning up. Two hours were spent cleaning up the river on Saturday morning in collaboration with the local community and Nepalese authorities.
Students along with teachers from the Access program contributed and participated with full zeal and enthusiasm.
You can also contribute to this clean up as well. If you are visiting Nepal, contribute to this clean up and buy some supplies for the volunteers.
